How to achieve a spotless home despite the haze

The annual (dreaded) haze is back. Before you know it your house is starting to fill up with a blanket of dust that is more of a challenge to remove than one may expect. Not only is it causing your allergies to recur all over again, you also have the difficult task of getting rid of all that dust.

Fret not! Helpling has suggested some ways to combat the haze that should help get the job done in no time:

Invest in an air purifier

One of the first lines of defense against the haze is to invest in an air purifier. Not only do they trap dust, they are also very helpful devices for people suffering from health issues such as allergies or asthma as they clean up the tiniest particles in the air. However, air purifiers require constant maintenance and cleaning. So don’t forget to get your air purifier regularly checked.

Halt and prevent dirt from forming

Removing your shoes after a hard day at work may seem like a chore to some, but another way of dust prevention is to avoid the use of shoes in the house to exponentially reduce the filth.

Dust systematically

Now that you have gotten the essentials to prevent your house against dust, don’t just go about dusting anything you see. It is recommended to follow a specific path to ensure you don’t miss a spot. Also, make sure that your mind doesn’t wander off during the process! A good tip would be to start from clockwise or counterclockwise while you dust. This will not only save you time, but it will help you to stay on task.

Dust the hard to reach places

Out of sight, out of mind? While you are dusting, don’t neglect the hard to reach places, such as behind the furniture and crevices in the furniture. In such circumstances, a toothbrush would come in handy to get into the nooks. In addition, dust gets trapped onto the walls, to easily remove dust from walls, wet a piece of cloth with water and wrap it around the bottom of a broom. The broom handle will help you reach the top of the walls.

Do not neglect your bathroom vents

Bathroom vents get extremely dusty, especially from the haze as they run for a long time and suck up tons of dust. Thus, you can use your vacuum cleaner to suck up the dust, followed by a moist piece of cloth to give the surface a thorough wipe down. Now, your vents won’t look like those of a mechanic’s shop!

Vacuum fabric furniture

As a final step, use the crevice and upholstery attachments on your vacuum cleaner to vacuum your sofas, the floor and any carpets or rugs to remove dust and debris that fell during the dusting procedure. Finally, you can finish off the whole cleaning process by mopping the floor.

Hope these tips about haze management are beneficial for you and that you have learnt something new with Helpling today!
