Types of aircon services
1. General servicing
General servicing is the most basic type among all the different types of aircon services. But don’t overlook it, because when done regularly, it can save you both money and effort.
Our general aircon servicing process includes the following:
- Dismantle and clean the front panel and cover to remove excess dust trapped in the air inlet.
- Clean air filter to remove impurities and improve air quality.
- Clean the vacuum evaporator coil to ensure efficient air flow.
- Vacuum blower parts to remove dirt and mould that causes rancid and weak airflow.
- Vacuum drainage pipe to remove rust and harmful bacteria build-up clogging the drain.
- Wash and vacuum water tray to remove dust and dirt.
- Perform an air-conditioner test run to ensure all components are functioning smoothly.
- Perform a gas pressure test to check coolant level in the air-conditioner.
If the last time you’ve serviced your aircon units was less than 6 months ago, you can opt for a general servicing to continue the maintenance of your units.

2. Chemical wash
Essentially, a chemical wash is a more thorough version of general servicing. This would be suitable for those who haven’t had an aircon servicing done in more than 6-9 months.
A chemical wash involves using a chemical-based solution to clean the air filters, fan, and cooling coil. The blower will be dismantled and taken out to clean as well. Dirt accumulates in the blower and hence, it is advisable to do a chemical wash once a year, for those who use your aircon frequently.
3. Chemical overhaul
Take it another step further. A chemical overhaul is even more intensive than a chemical wash.
During a chemical overhaul session, the entire unit is dismantled and parts such as the drainage pipes, heat exchange coils, and blower wheels are thoroughly cleaned.
This would be for those who haven’t had servicing done in more than 9 months and are facing some aircon issues such as leaking or weird noises.
4. Condenser dry cleaning
In order for the aircon to work properly, the condenser also has a part to play. It is normally out of sight but it’s still important to clean it regularly.
The condenser contains coils that help to move heat out of your home and replace it with cool air. Over time, dirt, dust, and debris accumulate in the coils. Then, it won’t be able to effectively and efficiently remove heat from your home.
If your condenser isn’t working well, all the aircon units in your home will be affected. Hence, it is important not to neglect regular maintenance of the condenser as well.
5. Gas top-up
If you find that your aircon isn’t cooling the room fast or well enough, the compressor might need a gas top-up. But there is no visual meter to show when the gas levels are low, so the best indicator is whether your units are able to cool the room properly.
Our aircon technicians will be able to advise whether you need a gas top-up when you arrange for aircon servicing. You can then decide if you want to go ahead with the top-up.
That being said, allowing your units to run with low gas levels is harmful to your units, and also the environment.
6. Air filtration installation
Especially for those who are sensitive to dust or have kids/elderly at home, you might want to replace your filters regularly to make the air that comes out from your aircon cleaner.
